Extractions
Teeth are usually extracted once all options have been exhausted, or if you do not want to try to save the tooth with root canal treatment. Natalie will discuss what you want as well as what is best for you, and will only take the tooth out as a last resort.
The duration varies depending on the condition of the tooth and how complex the extraction is likely to be, for example whether a surgical extraction is needed. Simple extractions usually take 20–40 minutes.
Extraction sites heal remarkably quickly. Natalie will discuss the risk of dry socket with you beforehand; if it happens, the site will still heal, just more slowly, and there are treatments to relieve any pain and help it heal well.

What should I expect during an extraction?
Natalie will always use numbing cream as well as an anaesthetic injection before taking any teeth out. All risks are discussed beforehand, and extractions are usually straightforward. There may be unpleasant noises, but you should not feel any pain. Once the tooth is out, Natalie will make sure the bleeding has stopped and give you post-operative instructions, and we always ring you afterwards to make sure you are comfortable and have no concerns. We are always on the end of the phone if you need us.
Supportive aftercare
Our team will talk you through looking after the extraction site and are always happy to answer any questions once you are home.
