Extractions

Our clinicians makes every effort to preserve your teeth. However, extractions are necessary when decay has made the tooth unrestorable or when you have an advanced periodontal (gum) disease. Every effort is made to ensure that the procedure is as painless as possible, and our supportive team are there for you every step of the way.

FAQs about Extractions

Teeth are usually extracted once all options have been exhausted or if you do not want to try and save it via root canal treatment. Natalie will discuss what you want as well as what is best for you and only will take the tooth out as a last resort.

Natalie will always use numbing cream as well as anaesthetic via an injection before taking any teeth out. All risks will be discussed before hand and usually they are straight forward to remove. There are unpleasant noises but you should not feel any pain. Once the tooth is out, Natalie will make sure you have stopped bleeding, give you post operative instructions and we always ring you afterwards to make sure you are not in any discomfort and have no concerns. We are always on the end of the phone if you need us.

Extraction sites heal up amazingly quickly ensuring you do not get dry socket. Dry socket is something that Natalie will discuss with you before the extraction as it is a risk. Do not be alarmed though as it means the extraction site will heal but a lot more slowly. There are treatments that can be done to eliminate any pain and ensure everything heals up well.
